Organisé chaque année par la Commission des Jeunes du Handball Esch, l’Esch City Cup (ECC) est un tournoi international de handball sur gazon dédié aux jeunes talents. Il se tient traditionnellement au début du mois de juillet à Esch-sur-Alzette et accueille des clubs du Luxembourg, de la Grande Région, ainsi que de nombreux pays au-delà des frontières de l’Euregio.
Plus qu’un simple événement sportif, l’ECC incarne les valeurs de partage, d’amitié et d’ouverture. À travers le handball, il favorise les échanges interculturels et renforce les liens entre de jeunes passionnés, unis par le sport au-delà des frontières.
Convivialité et fair-play
Au-delà de l’aspect compétitif, l’ECC vise à créer un climat de camaraderie et de respect entre les jeunes joueurs. L’accent est mis sur la solidarité, l’entraide et la découverte de nouvelles équipes dans un esprit de fair-play.

Fidèle à cette devise, l’ECC incarne la force du sport comme langage universel. La passion du handball rassemble les participants, en dépassant les barrières géographiques, culturelles et linguistiques.
Découverte du handball sur gazon
Disputé en extérieur, le tournoi permet aux jeunes de s’initier au handball sur gazon, une variante dynamique qui développe l’endurance, l’autonomie et la créativité tactique dans un environnement ouvert et exigeant.
Rencontres internationales
Chaque édition accueille des clubs du Luxembourg, de la Grande Région et parfois de bien plus loin. Cette diversité enrichit l’expérience sportive, tout en offrant une ouverture culturelle unique aux participantes et participants.
Période
L’Esch City Cup se tient chaque été, généralement lors du premier week-end de juillet. Le tournoi s’étend de la matinée du samedi jusqu’à l’après-midi du dimanche.
Lieu
Les rencontres ont lieu au stade LANKELZ, situé à Esch/Lallange. Ces infrastructures permettent d’accueillir plusieurs matchs en parallèle et offrent aux équipes des espaces dédiés pour l’échauffement, la récupération et la convivialité.
Hébergement gratuit (selon disponibilités) : prise en charge possible dans des infrastructures sportives ou scolaires à proximité du site de compétition.
Formule petit-déjeuner et Pasta Festa à prix très compétitif : petit-déjeuner pour les équipes hébergées et soirée Pasta Festa le samedi pour faire le plein d’énergie avant la deuxième journée.
Restauration sur place : à partir de cette année, plusieurs stands de restauration rapide sont ouverts tout au long du week-end. Équipes, supporters et visiteurs peuvent ainsi profiter d’un encas entre les rencontres.
DISTINCTIONS ET RÉCOMPENSES
Médaille pour tous : chaque participant reçoit une médaille commémorative.
Trophées : les trois meilleures équipes de chaque catégorie reçoivent un trophée en fin de tournoi.
Encadrement médical et sécurité : Une équipe de médecins et de secouristes est présente durant tout le week-end pour intervenir rapidement en cas de blessure ou d’incident.
Arbitrage officiel : Des arbitres officiels, accompagnés de jeunes arbitres, assurent la bonne tenue des rencontres et le respect des règles.
Accès gratuit pour les spectateurs : Toutes les rencontres sont ouvertes au public sans frais d’entrée. Familles, amis et passionnés de handball sont invités à venir encourager les équipes et à profiter de l’ambiance festive de l’ECC.

Frais d’inscription : 20 € par équipe – restitués le jour du tournoi sous forme de bons de consommation.

Der Esch City Cup (ECC) wird jährlich von der Jugendkommission von Handball Esch organisiert und ist ein internationales Rasenhandball-Turnier für junge Talente. Es findet traditionell Anfang Juli in Esch-sur-Alzette statt und begrüßt Vereine aus Luxemburg, der Großregion sowie aus zahlreichen Ländern über die Euregio hinaus.
Mehr als nur ein Sportereignis steht der ECC für Werte wie Austausch, Freundschaft und Offenheit. Über den Handball fördert er interkulturelle Begegnungen und stärkt die Beziehungen zwischen jungen Sportlerinnen und Sportlern über Grenzen hinweg.
Ziele und Geist des Turniers
Geselligkeit und Fair Play
Jenseits des reinen Wettkampfs möchte der ECC ein Klima der Kameradschaft und des Respekts schaffen. Im Mittelpunkt stehen Solidarität, gegenseitige Unterstützung und das Kennenlernen neuer Teams in fairem Miteinander.

Entdeckung des Rasenhandballs
Als Outdoor-Wettbewerb ermöglicht das Turnier die Einführung in den Rasenhandball – eine dynamische Variante, die Ausdauer, Selbstständigkeit und taktische Kreativität in einem offenen, anspruchsvollen Umfeld fördert.
Internationale Begegnungen
In jeder Auflage nehmen Vereine aus Luxemburg, der Großregion und mitunter aus deutlich weiter entfernten Ländern teil. Diese Vielfalt bereichert das sportliche Erlebnis und bietet eine besondere kulturelle Öffnung.

Zeitraum
Jedes Jahr in der Regel am ersten Juli-Wochenende, von Samstagmorgen bis Sonntagnachmittag.
Ort
Gespielt wird im Stade LANKELZ in Esch/Lallingen. Die Anlagen ermöglichen mehrere Spiele parallel und bieten den Teams eigene Bereiche für Aufwärmen, Regeneration und Begegnung.

Kostenlose Unterkunft (nach Verfügbarkeit): in der Regel in nahegelegenen Sport- oder Schulinfrastrukturen.
Frühstückspaket und Pasta-Festa am Samstag zu sehr günstigen Konditionen: optimale Energiezufuhr für den zweiten Turniertag.
Gastronomie vor Ort: ab diesem Jahr sind mehrere Schnellimbiss-Stände das ganze Wochenende über geöffnet – ideal für Teams, Fans und Besucherinnen/Besucher zwischen den Spielen.
Ehrungen und Auszeichnungen
Medaille für alle: jede Teilnehmerin und jeder Teilnehmer erhält eine Erinnerungsmedaille.
Pokale: die drei besten Teams jeder Kategorie werden am Turnierende ausgezeichnet.
Medizinische Betreuung und Sicherheit
Ein Team aus Ärztinnen/Ärzten und Ersthelferinnen/Ersthelfern ist das gesamte Wochenende vor Ort und kann bei Verletzungen oder Zwischenfällen schnell eingreifen.
Offizielle Schiedsrichter
Offizielle Schiedsrichterinnen und Schiedsrichter – unterstützt von Nachwuchsreferees – gewährleisten einen regelkonformen und reibungslosen Ablauf.
Freier Eintritt für Zuschauende
Alle Begegnungen sind kostenlos zugänglich. Familien, Freunde und Handballbegeisterte sind herzlich eingeladen, die Teams anzufeuern und die festliche ECC-Atmosphäre zu genießen.

International youth lawn handball tournament
Organised annually by the Youth Commission of Handball Esch, the Esch City Cup (ECC) is an international lawn handball tournament for young talents. Traditionally held in early July in Esch-sur-Alzette, it welcomes clubs from Luxembourg, the Greater Region, and many countries beyond the Euregio.
More than just a sporting event, the ECC embodies sharing, friendship and openness. Through handball, it promotes intercultural exchange and strengthens bonds between young enthusiasts united by sport across borders.

International match-ups
Each edition hosts clubs from Luxembourg, the Greater Region and sometimes much further afield, enriching the sporting experience while offering a unique cultural openness to all participants.
Practical information
Dates
Held every summer, usually on the first weekend of July, running from Saturday morning to Sunday afternoon.
Venue
Matches take place at Stade LANKELZ, located in Esch/Lallange. The facilities allow multiple games in parallel and provide dedicated areas for warm-up, recovery and socialising.
What ECC provides
Free accommodation (subject to availability): typically in nearby sports or school facilities.
Breakfast package and Saturday Pasta Festa at very competitive rates: fuelling teams ahead of day two.
On-site catering: starting this year, several fast-food stands are open throughout the weekend so teams, supporters and visitors can grab a bite between games.
Awards and distinctions
Medal for all: every participant receives a commemorative medal.
Trophies: the top three teams in each category receive a trophy at the end of the tournament.
Medical cover and safety
A team of doctors and first-aid responders is on site all weekend to provide rapid assistance if needed.
Official refereeing
Official referees, supported by young referees, ensure smooth proceedings and full compliance with the rules.
Free entry for spectators
All matches are open to the public free of charge. Families, friends and handball fans are warmly invited to cheer on the teams and enjoy the ECC’s festive atmosphere.
